Verbo’s Touchdown Summer Camp is a fun and educational experience for children ages 5 to 10. It’s a great way for children to learn about faith, make new friends, and have a blast. Many of our summer camp volunteers were part of the camp experience in their younger years. Camp Staff are experienced teachers who create a safe and supportive environment where kids can have fun and make memories to last a lifetime. Typical activities at Touchdown Summer Camp include:

• Bible Stories
• Music and Singing
• Crafts
• Outdoor Games and Sports
• Motivational Speakers

Every August Verbo collects new backpacks and school supplies from members and other partner churches to help children in our community to start the school year off right. Many families struggle to afford the rising cost of school supplies, and this drive eases the burden and ensures all children have the tools they need to succeed in the classroom. How you can help:

• Donate new backpacks and school supplies individually, or organize the drive for Verbo at your home church.
• Make a monetary donation which enables us to purchase additional backpack supplies as needed.
• Volunteer your time to sort and organize donations, fill backpacks, and help us distribute them to families in need at the end of our annual Touchdown Summer Camp.

Verbo hosts its Multicultural Festival as a celebration of the diverse community of North Fair Oaks, with more than 800 people in attendance annually. The Festival brings together people from the community with origins in Latin America, the U.S., and other countries to share their cultures through food, music, dance, traditional dress, art, and more. This helps to break down stereotypes, builds bridges between people living in this community and with those from beyond it too. Some of the activities planned for the Festival each year include:

• The Parade of the Nations, with countries represented by their flags, carried by people in traditional dress;
• Food booths featuring traditional dishes from the countries represented;
• Community resource booths;
• Kids’ activities like bounce houses and face painting; and
• Live music and cultural performances of dance and theater.

The event is free for everyone.

Giving thanks, Verbo gathers as a community to celebrate the American tradition of the Thanksgiving meal. Annually we have more than 70 volunteers who prepare and serve the meal to approximately 300 participants.

Verbo brings its community together on New Year’s Eve to celebrate what God has allowed them to do throughout the year, and to ask for God’s blessing on the church and the community in the new year to come.
